Sverrir Harðarson, MD


Sverrir Hardarson is a Staff Pathologist at the Department of Pathology at Landspitali University Hospital in Reykjavik. He received his Medical Degree from the University of Iceland in 1983 and subsequently completed a two year rotating internship in internal medicine, surgery and pediatrics at Landspitali and affiliated institutions. Dr. Hardarson trained for one year in anatomic pathology at Landspitali University Hospital. He continued his post-graduate training first as a resident in anatomic pathology at Tufts University – New England Medical Center from 1986-1990 and then did a fellowship in immunopathology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics from 1990-1992. He returned to Iceland and served as an Associate Professor in Anatomy and Histology at the University of Iceland Faculty of Medicine from 1992-2008 and as a Staff Pathologist at the Department of Pathology at Landspitali University Hospital since 1992. His research has been focused on renal tumors and different aspects of renal diseases including IgA nephropathy and interstitial kidney diseases.
